Thursday November 30, 2012

As promised, here is the post about the Android 4.2.1 update.

The update notice was received two days after the initial release date.

From my understanding the People App issue was resolved. However, no confirmation can be made as that app is not installed on my Nexus 7.

If I am not mistaken, there are a few more Cards added to Google now. Not sure about that as they might have been there when 4.2 came out.

There is nothing more of note with this update as it was more of a fix to that People App issue than a more serious upgrade of features.

Enjoy your weekend.

Android 4.2.1 one has started to roll out recently.

This minor 1.1 mb update is being released to address an issue with the People App which lacked the month of December.

So far it is being released for the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4 and the Nexus line of Tablets (Nexus 7 tablets and the Nexus 10 tablets). For those of you new to Nexus products, be aware the roll out is not simultaneous.

It is likely, if we give you a brief history of the Nexus 7 AOAM purchased, that things will a bit more clear.

Our Nexus 7 Tablet was purchased on October 5th of 2012. At that time it came with Android 4.1.1 OS.

October 10th 2012 Android 4.1.2  began rolling out. We here at AOAM received our update on October 16th 2012 or 6 days after the initiation of the roll out.

Android 4.2 was released November 13th 2012. The same day we received the update.

Now Android 4.2.1, as was mentioned at the beginning of the article, started rolling out to Nexus users on November 27th of 2012. That would be yesterday for us here at AOAM. As yet no update notice has been received. Though I personally checked to see if it was there after lunch today. Not yet. We will keep you updated as to when we get that little nugget.

You might be asking yourself. Hey, this is great news. But, what about the rest of us. Those without Nexus devices. Sadly, I do not have a crystal ball to peer into so I can give you an answer.

One of the pet peeves that people have with Android is the fragmentation of the OS due to less than regular updates for other devices using the OS. When that is resolved  is a question no one can yet answer.

We here at Android OS, Apps, and More launched our Google+ page, AOAM for short, on October 23 of this year. In an effort to help ours followers and and others have a more user friendly experience, we have decided to start a blog.

As our names states, this blog is geared towards all things Android and will include articles about the OS, Apps, as well as other Android related stories plus more.

We hope you enjoy this new format and look forward to reading your comments and questions.

Thanks.
